C Series
Sale on selected models
From Jensen
he Jensen 'C' Series provides additional tone choice coupled with the
advantages of lower cost ceramic magnets. Originally developed in the
1960's to meet the ever increasing demands of the emerging pop music
industry, the 'C' Series has remained influential ever since.
From Jeff Andrews
Compared to the P series Jensens, the C series ceramic magnet
speakers offer lower price, more dynamics at high volume and higher
maximum volume. Take a look at the frequency response curves of the
R, Q, N, and K version of the speaker you are considering (when
available). You may not want to choose a speaker purely based on
power handling ability. As you progress through the versions, starting with R and ending with K, you will increase power
handling from 25 watts to 35, to 50 to 100 watts but that's not the only
difference. In general, each progression will give you flatter
frequency response in the guitar frequency range, more bottom, and more
volume per watt. In my opinion, the Q and N series produce the most
genuine sounding vintage Fender tone if that's what you're after.
Use a K series if you need max volume, clean headroom and a less colored
sound. Use the low power R version or higher power
Mod Series if price is your main concern.
Just be sure to use speakers that have a combined power rating that is
higher than that of your amp.
