BIO

Jason Chin studied guitar performance for 4 years - under full-scholarship - with Dr. Andrew Zohn at the Schwob School of Music. Since that time, he has melded a myriad of musical influences into his present style of guitar play, combining Classical technique, a fondness for meaningful and intelligent lyrics, and a generally unorthodox sense of artistry to produce music that is very cosmopolitan and difficult to describe in words. He has played in concert halls, competitions,  bars, restaurants, churches, on live TV and on street corners throughout the country. 

EDUCATION

Minor in Music from Columbus State University: 2000 – 2004. I spent 4 years studying guitar performance with Dr. Andrew Zohn at CSU's Schwob School of Music, which regularly hosts performances and master classes by the most renowned Classical guitarists in the world (many of which I have and continue to attend), including Dr. Zohn himself. I was granted a full-scholarship to study the guitar upon acceptance to the program.   

B.S. in Sociology from Columbus State University: 2005 - 2007.

Graduate Fellow with Columbia Theological Seminary: Current.

PERFORMING EXPERIENCE

Contracted Performer: 2007 – Present. I've spent the last 3 years (since graduating from college in 2007) as a musician-for-hire, performing both as a soloist and with a variety of acts at venues as diverse as bars, restaurants, churches, coffee shops, private parties, weddings, live TV, charity events.

Lead Guitarist for Mt. Zion Baptist Church: 2007 – 2008.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Guitar Instructor for The Columbus School of Music and Expressions Arts (Concurrently): 2007 – 2009. I taught private guitar lessons to as many as two-dozen students per week - ranging in age from five to sixty-five – with these teaching programs. I also taught bass guitar lessons.
